The curse of the Herbies

When we used to moor down the Slough arm we got a reputation for always going out in bad weather  It was the cause of some amusement to the other moorers when the weather always changed for the worse as soon as we set off.  The curse of the Herbies they might have called it.

Well I fear the curse might be striking again.  Our usual practice is to have a few weeks cruise in September, but this time we've instead been helping our Peter to move into his new flat and all that that entails. Now that he's settled in and got himself a longed for cat, Bella, (cute or what?)

for company, we're free to head off into the wide grey yonder, and of course after a beautiful warm September, the weather is now changing for the worse.  Ah well, at least the delay will have allowed our new gunnel paint to harden off.

All being well (if we're spared) we'll be setting off next week down to the Thames.  I just hope the heavy rain of the last few days won't continue.  We don't want the old red boards going up just as we get there.

Good to hear that you'll be out on the Thames soon ... make sure we can meet up! We're travelling slowly upstream currently at Marlow and would be great to see you both again!

That'd be great, although given the time we have, I doubt we'll get further down than Reading, if that. That'd be the middle of the week after next. I'll try to keep the blog up to date on our whereabouts.

Hi Neil, Rather relieved that you are blogging again, as I thought you might be unwell - obviously not. Good luck with the weather on your Thames trip and if you go to Reading, please can you update me on the situation at Tesco moorings, which I wrote about on a blog when I was last there. Now that Stronghold is in Rugby, it is most unlikely that I will go there in future, but always interested to know via e-mail (not yahoo) or text. Cheers Matey.
